Are there lucky Lotto numbers?
Not in the draw itself. Every line of six numbers has the same 1 in 3,838,380 chance of division 1, whether it holds the most drawn numbers, the least drawn or a random Dip. What numbers can change is how many people you share a prize with: dates such as birthdays only use 1 to 31, so lines built from them are picked by more players. If you want numbers nobody chose for a reason, our number generator picks them at random.
What these numbers can and cannot tell you
Every Lotto draw is independent: the 40 balls have no memory, so a number that has come up often is no more likely to appear next time, and an “overdue” number is not due. Safer Gambling Aotearoa calls this the gambler’s fallacy. Over a year, normal random variation alone makes some numbers look hot and others cold. The chance of winning division 1 with one line stays 1 in 3,838,380 whatever numbers you choose.
