How to play Lotto

Pick six numbers from 1 to 40 on each line, or buy a Dip and let the terminal choose. A Lotto line costs $0.70 and a ticket needs at least four lines. Six winning numbers are drawn from 40 balls, then a seventh, the bonus ball, which can lift a winning line to the next division. Division 1 pays $1 million, shared if there is more than one winner.

Powerball

Powerball adds a number from 1 to 14 to each Lotto line for an extra $0.80 per line, again with at least four lines. Match it on a winning Lotto line and the prize is boosted. Division 1 needs all six Lotto numbers plus the Powerball: the jackpot starts at $5 million, grows until it is won, and becomes a Must Be Won draw at around $60 million.

Strike

Strike uses the first four Lotto numbers drawn, in the order they come out. A line costs $1, on its own or with Lotto. Match all four in the right order for the Strike 4 jackpot, which starts at $200,000 and must be won once it reaches $1.5 million.

Hot numbers do not exist

Each draw is independent, so past results cannot predict the next one. Our statistics page shows which numbers have come up most and least often over the last year, but a number that has come up often is no more likely next time.
